Do you sometimes wonder why some insurance rates are higher or lower than others? Auto insurance rates vary for various reasons. There are several factors that may affect your automobile insurance rate. Here is a brief list of some of the criteria that auto insurance rates are based on.

1. Your driving relate. Automobile insurance companies base your rate very heavily on your driving record. If you have a good driving record, you’ll receive a good driving discount, which will make your rate lower. People who drive safely are less likely to be keen in an automobile accident. However, if you have speeding tickets, accident records, or have filed an auto claim before, your rate is going to be higher.

2. Your vehicle. Auto insurance companies also take the make and model of your vehicle into consideration when determining your insurance rate. Some vehicles cost more to repair or replace than others, in which case the owners of such vehicles will receive higher insurance rates. This is why owners of convertibles, for instance, usually have a higher auto insurance rate. However, anti-theft devices and other security features can give you a discount on your rate.

3. Your annual mileage. Drivers who are on the road more are more likely to accept in an auto accident simply because they are presented with more opportunities for accidents to happen. Therefore, the less you drive your car, the lower your auto insurance will be.

These three things are some of the most common reasons why auto insurance rates vary. Your driving record, vehicle, and annual mileage are all relevant to how likely you will be to file a claim and how expensive your claim would be. Therefore, they are all used by auto insurance companies to determine your auto insurance rate.

Good news for California insured drivers the Insurance Commissioner John Garamendai announced a $30 Million Settlement with Allstate Insurance, that effects 250,000 policy holders, that could qualify for return on premium or credits of future premium bills. This was the result of an investigation that resolved issues, and number of practices of Allstate, between January 1, 2000 – April 12, 2002 effecting some auto insurance policies. Allstate has telephone, for policyholders can call, to get further information: 1 – 800 – 351-0646.

California insurance motorist are only required to have a minimum amount of coverage, that includes $15,000 for death or injury to one person, any one accident, $30,000 for all persons in anyone one accident, and $5,000 for property damage, for any one accident. Not required by the state of California include comprehensive coverage, uninsured motorist, medical payment, and collision insurance.

A pilot program that is available for California Drivers to purchase low cost car insurance. The California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program (CLACK), satisfies the requirements of the state’s auto insurance requirements. The insurance policy is based on a driver’s household income, driving record, and vehicle purchased value.

California Proposition 103, enacted into law in November 1988, qualifies a Good Driver to get car insurance from any insurance company, and is entitled to get 20 percent reduction in car insurance, compared to a non-Good Driver. A Good Driver must be a California driver licensed for three consecutive years, and have no points on driving record. Also, any major driving violations including Driving Under the Influence, could remove the Good Driver rating. Under Proposition 103, car insurance companies primary factor to calculate insurance rate, must consider operator’s driving safety relate, number of miles driven annually, and years of driving experience. Other considerations include, if the vehicle is stored in garage and has security features. Despite the positive aspects for lower insurance rates with proposition 103, drivers should be aware that lower minimum coverage may not be sufficient, to cover any additional liabilities, which the driver would be responsible for out of pocket cost. Additional liability insurance should be considered or purchasing an umbrella policy that would mask most cost of liabilities, above the car insurance policy, and cover any other liabilities. An average umbrella policy provides one million dollars coverage for liabilities, and cost between two to three hundred dollars, a year.

Always recommended to contact several insurance companies or brokers to compare auto insurance rates. Each company calculates their acquire rate policy, which is partially based upon their own past losses, and expenses. Through your local telephone directory or Internet can provide names, and telephone numbers. Spending some time on the phone, answering questions, can conveniently gain price quotes, and establish money to get the best rate.

When speaking to a car insurance company, ask if there is any discounts, getting credit for extra driving courses or lectures, having more the one car insured, adding any additional security features to the car, and limiting your driving mileage to and from work only. Inform the insurance agent if you work at home, and if you can pay the premium in one payment per year, rather then in installments, to get a lower premium. Ask if you can produce payment by a credit card, because the amount will be billed to you on your next month’s credit card statement, and you maybe entitled to points on the credit card, based on the type of credit card.

When deciding upon a car insurance company, check with the Consumer Complaint Study (CCS) that is published by California Department of Insurance. This will assist consumers on car insurance companies based upon justified complaint study (composite ratio), company performance, and comparison data study. For example, in 2003, the number one rated car insurance company was The Swansea Mutual Insurance Company, that had justified complaint ratio zero, and Number of justified complaints zero.

The medical profession in the United States is fraught with health care nightmares. In novel years journalists have been reporting with greater import various accounts of medical mishaps and insurance denials that have had disastrous effects. More people are aware of botched surgeries or medical malpractice than ever before. Now some are learning about the control the insurance companies have over the very health care people get in this country.

Just recently a man was treated for bleeding on the brain and the wrong side of this poor mans brain was worked on. And there was the famed case in Florida a few years back where a man had the wrong leg amputated. There was also a famous comedian who underwent cardiac bypass surgery and the doctor operated on the wrong blood vessels. Some patients were told before surgery to actually write on the part of the body that needed surgery!

All-in-all nearly 50,000 people die through medical mishaps in the United States every year. To put this In perspective approximately the same number perish each year in automobile accidents. And in all those terrible years during the Vietnam War this was about the number of precious lives lost during that entire conflict. This is both astonishing and monstrous at the same time. In such an advanced nation such as ours this should be unacceptable. And to the public it really is.

According to some nurses it appears that the doctor is not always at fault. They are under a stout deal of pressure to do their work at certain times with certain guidelines and even the use of some equipment. And the nurses say it is the insurance companies who are constantly exerting a tremendous pressure on the medical community as a whole. To the insurance companies it is all about the money. The bottom line is not to spend one red cent more than is necessary to score the job done. In fact most insurance companies want to net the job done under a certain dollar quota. Most doctors do in fact want to do what they trained many hard years to do and that is being doctors. But the hospitals and insurance companies they work with are holding the purse strings.

The new movie/documentary SICKO by Michael Moore exposes these troublesome facts in some detail. His take is a little different but nonetheless it puts a spotlight honest on the insurance companies. And apparently this is not a good situation for them. Only time will tell how the American public will react to this and other news of the same ilk.

It is well known there are many many families, from grandfathers down to infants, who do not have medical insurance in this country. Why is that? And it is a fact that their health suffers greatly because of this. In a country with plenty of billionaires one wonders why some poor little kid cannot have his disfigured jaw realigned because it is not a medical necessity? Why must a poor man have his leg amputated because it is too expensive to save it? Why must a woman die of cervical cancer because she cannot be seen until it is too late?

There is something wrong here that needs fixing. It is up to the government to look into the insurance industry and medical coverage for those who can barely afford the cost of food an the table

Growing up, my favorite computer game was Carwars. When you contemplate of Texas Instruments (TI) you may consider of calculators, but I think of Carwars (played on a game console before Atari came out). But now car wars is how I refer to car insurances.

It’s not that I had any real issues with Geico Insurance over the past 7 years. It’s just the irony of having to pay so much money toward a service when you have no choice but to have insurance, regardless of whether or not I ever exhaust the service. Geico came to the rescue when I hit that deer. Well, they were there to take my phone call at 3 o’clock in the morning and even arranged to call tow service to come to our aid. Some accidents can’t be avoided, so when the car was totaled and money offered in its place, but not enough to make up for the loss, your not sure if the money you were spending toward insurance would have better covered that and some. Oh well, rainy day saving is not an option—a honest alternative to car insurance. Frankly I liked Geico’s coverage. I liked their service. I liked everything but the price. So I switched to progressive. As arrive as I can train I get everything I would with Geico, but for a lesser bill. I checked. The coverages match up. And enjoy it or not, the people on the phone are just as nice and willing to support if called upon.

Both car insurances offer free rock chip repair under my comprehensive coverage, my only other standard fix, given all the construction and gravel trucks on the road. But they both keep track of the claims made and a little too touchy for me to make such insignificant claims. I just pay for that repair on the side for like $10, whereas when I tested out having it charged to the insurance, through their chosen provider, the insurance was charged $180. No wonder the insurance companies gather uppity about some claims. But the point is that there isn’t a stark contrast between how either company handles these types of claims. Again, it is about the money just to carry the insurance, because all other things seem equal.

The strange thing is that Geico’s googley-eyed mascot isn’t saving me money. Progressive is. All State, American Family, State Farm, Countrywide and others all offer basically the same services, but say they can do it for less money. But I didn’t find anyone who is doing significantly better on that claim than Geico, except Progressive (and maybe Countrywide).

Rather than being a single coverage, auto insurance is truly a compilation of a number of diverse sorts of coverage Some of these varieties of coverage are optional whilst other people are needed Coverage that is needed by law varies from state to state, as does the dollar quantity of coverage needed The most popular sort of auto insurance that is needed by law in some states is liability auto insurance A large number of of the optional kinds of coverage are still extremely very important for a automobile owner to have, even though they are not needed by law Some of these coverage sorts are created to protect the insured such as uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage and comprehensive and collision coverage

Liability InsuranceLiability insurance can be for bodily injury and property damage Typically, both sorts of coverage are needed in most states Most auto insurance policies will list liability coverage in the following format: $25,000/$50,000/$25,000 or just as 25/50/25 Translated, this means that if the individual with this policy had been to get in an accident that was deemed that person’s fault in which the other people today involved had been injured, they would have twenty-five thousand dollars of bodily injury liability coverage per individual and fifty thousand dollars of bodily injury coverage per accident total – no matter how several men and women had been involved The last number indicates that this individual would have twenty-five thousand dollars worth of coverage for property damage in that accident This would likely go toward paying for the damages or replacement of the other person’s automobile This quantity of coverage could possibly or may well not be sufficient, depending on the injuries and vehicles involved If a individual does not have sufficient liability coverage, that individual could possibly be held financially responsible for the remainder of the costs associated with the accident With the costs associated with medical coverage and the price of newer-model cars, most state minimums do not supply the level of protection most individuals need. Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Vehicle InsuranceUninsured and underinsured motorist automobile insurance coverage is created to protect vehicle owners from drivers that either do not have the legally needed liability coverage or do not have sufficient For example, if a individual with a automobile valued at 30,000 is rear-ended by a person that has only 15,000 dollars of property damage liability coverage, the individual who was rear-ended will be covered for the extra quantity by the underinsured motorist policy Comprehensive and Collision Coverage Automobile InsuranceComprehensive and collision automobile insurance are also optional coverage sorts that can be extremely useful Even though normally optional, if a individual has a automobile that is financed, the financing bank will likely need that the individual maintain comprehensive and collision coverage on the vehicle for the duration of the loan Collision coverage basically covers the vehicle in the event it is involved in a collision with nearly anything other than a deer, which falls under comprehensive auto insurance coverage Comprehensive coverage will cover most events that collision coverage does not This consists of things like vandalism, flooding and theft In most states and with most insurers, this also consists of collision with an animal like a deer .

We would all like to avoid being involved in an automobile accident for as long as we live. But a determined fact of modern life is that accidents do happen. And just as learning how to avoid accidents is significant for every driver, so to is learning what to do if you are involved in an automobile accident.

The first thing to do is to remove your motor vehicle from the roadway, if possible. Leaving your automobile in the way of oncoming traffic can result in additional accidents and injuries. If you cannot retract your vehicle from the roadway, turn on your hazard lights. You should store in your vehicle at all times some sort of warning cones or flares that will help other oncoming vehicles avoid your disabled automobile.

Call the police from your cell phone. When the police arrive, they will ask you your version of the events. Never say that the accident was your fault, even if you think it was. State the relevant unprejudiced facts as necessary.

If police are not going to be alive to, exchange information with the other driver. Make sure you opinion their driver’s license, registration, and insurance card yourself. Prefer down their license plate number, telephone number and email address. Jot down a description of the accident. Take photos of the vehicles and accident scene with a disposable camera that you should keep in your vehicle at all times.

If you are feeling at all not like yourself, ask for an ambulance. Go to the emergency room and get checked out. Know exactly what your insurance covers. Your insurance most likely includes a no-fault policy, meaning your medical costs will be covered by your own insurance company regardless of who caused the accident.

File an accident report with the appropriate state agency. Forms for such reports are available from local police departments and motor vehicle agencies. If you are at all injured (even if you don’t consider the injury serious), contact an attorney prior to filling out the police record. An injury lawyer will fully explain your rights under the law.

Maintain in mind that the other driver may describe this accident to his insurance company even if both parties agreed to pay for the damages themselves. Don’t make assumptions; cover yourself. Make certain your insurance company has your version of the events.

Hopefully, this information will be of no use to you. But it’s better to be safe than sorry. Keep this information with you in your vehicle at all times so that you will know precisely what to do if you are involved in an automobile accident.
